PUERTO NATALES - TORRES DEL PAINE - LAKE GREY (6 Days - 5 Nights)

DAY 1. AIRPORT - PUNTA ARENAS - PUERTO NATALES

On your arrival at the airport “Carlos Ibañez del Campo” of Punta Arenas you will be picked up by our staff and taken to the city of Punta Arenas, one of the southernmost cities in the world.

Today you will do a city tour and visit the attractions of Punta Arenas. Discover the Plaza de Armas, the monument of the Indio Patagónico – a legend says that, of you touch the Indio, you will return to Patagonia one day – and enjoy the view over the city and the Stait of Magellan from Cerro La Cruz. Visit the picturesque cemetery and the most emblematic monument of the city: The Shepherd Monument.

After the tour, you will travel to the city of Puerto Natales.

 

DAY 2. NATIONAL PARK TORRES DEL PAINE

After breakfast in your hotel you will start the day with the one of the most important excursions of this tour: the visit of the Mylodon Cave where remains of this prehistoric mammal were found, having lived there about 12.000 years back.

Later we continue towards the National Park Torres del Paine to visit the Laguna Amarga. The white shore of the lagoon is covered in salt and visited by a great variety of bird species, for example flamingos.

Following the route, you will be able to appreciate the Paine Massifs, surrounded Guanacos who inhabit in this area. Finally, you will arrive at the Nordenskjold Lake from where you have a stunning view over the Monte Almirante Nieto and the Cuernos del Paine.

We continue to the Pehoé Lake, a lake of turquoise color thanks to the glacier sediments found in the waters. From here you will be guided towards the Salto Grande waterfall to observe the impressive Monte Paine Grande, the Cuernos del Paine, the Glacier El Francés and the Monte Paine Chico, also called Almirante Nieto.

Take your lunch at the borders of the Pehoé Lake and take in the great views. Then we continue towards the sector Grey. On the road, you can maybe spot a Huemul, one of the beautiful animals who live in this region. You will cross a forest to get to the Lake Grey, and from here you can take a walk to the view point of the glacier.

After this adventurous day, you will return to the entrance of the national park and transferred to your hotel at the borders of the park. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful evening view on the Paine Massif.

 

DAY 3. TREKKING BASE OF LAS TORRES

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the sector of Laguna Amarga. From here you start a hike of moderate difficulty through the Ascencio Valley towards the magnificent Torres del Paine. The route will take you to the Monte Almirante Nieto and to the pass of Los Vientos, where you can take beautiful pictures of the landscape. You continue to the Base Camp El Chileno. Take some time to relax before you continue to hike up a ground moraine until you arrive at beautiful lagoon that reflects the granite peaks of the Torres del Paine.  Accompanied by this amazing landscape you will take a break and have lunch. Then you return to the Hostería Las Torres from where the vehicle will take you back to the hotel.

 

DAY 4. TORRES DEL PAINE – BOAT RIDE GLACIAR GREY

On a visit to the National Park Torres del Paine, you cannot miss the stunning boat ride to the Glacier Grey.

From the hotel, you will start the tour to the river Pingo, cross a bridge and the native forest to get to the shores of river Grey. Here you will embark and start your boat ride of 3 hours. After approximately 75 minutes you will arrive at the surroundings of Glacier Grey. Let yourself be captivated by the more than 20m high ice walls and the beautiful natural setting. If you like, enjoy a Whisky on the rocks with thousand-year-old glacier ice. Then you will return to the Hostería Lago Grey and travel back to your hotel.

 

DAY 5. BOAT RIDE GLACIARES BALMACEDA AND SERRANO

After breakfast, you will embark on another unforgettable boat ride through the Fjord of Last Hope towards the Glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano. During the ride, you you can observe sea lion colonies and numerous cormorants. At the Puerto Toro, you will leave the ship and take a short walk of 1km though beautiful native forest to the borders of a lake and the impressive Glacier Serrano. Take your time to take pictures and enjoy the nature before you return to the ship and continue to the Glacier Balmaceda, another stunning hanging glacier located at the Monte Balmaceda (2.222mts).

Afterwards you will travel to the Estancia Perales where you will have a traditional Patagonian lunch.

Finally, you return to Puerto Natales. You will arrive approximately at 17:00hrs and will be taken back to your hotel.

 

DAY 6. PUERTO NATALES - AIRPORT PUNTA ARENAS

After breakfast in your hotel, we take you to the bus terminal where you take a public bus to the airport of Punta Arenas.

From a city tour in Punta Arenas to a journey back in time to the Mylodon Cave, where the prehistoric mammal lived, and from the Base of Torres del Paine all the way to the Glacier Grey, finishing with an unforgettable boat ride through the fjord of Last Hope to see the glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano – all all of this in only six days.
