The eighth wonder of the world was named national park on May 13th 1959. It is located in the region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic in the commune Torres del Paine in the province of Last Hope. The entrance to the park lies 150 km north of the city of Puerto Natales, passing Cerro Castillo and the Mylodon Heritage Site.
The national park covers a surface of 227.298 hectares and offers accommodation, camping, boat and food services to its visitors.
On a global scale, the park is known for the giant granite massifs that give the park its name. Torres del Paine is considered one of the most spectacular places within Patagonia. It is home to a unique landscape composed by snowy mountains and turquoise lakes formed by the surrounding glaciers.
